Seb
Tracklist
(Rutherford/Carrack)
Do you remember how we used to say
Nothing could ever stand in our way
Well it’s no use pretending things are still the same
‘Cause we’re no longer ahead of the game
Well I’ve already gone through it all and it’s true
If you want to survive there’s just one thing to do
Get up! and do something
Get up! and take control of your life
Get up! and do something about it
Don’t ever make the same mistake twice
Just like a flyer high above the ground
I’m on a tightrope, afraid to look down
Well I’m almost approaching the point of no return
Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever learn
Well I’ve already said that you ought to be proud
Listen, talking is cheap oh but action speaks loud
Get up! and do something
Get up! and take control of your life
Get up! and do something about it
Don’t ever make the same mistake twice
All of this time you’ve been learning to crawl
When you’re down on your knees you’ve got nowhere to fall
Get up!
(Rutherford/Neil)
Now the world is getting older
There’s a few things to be said
Do you believe the things they told you
Do you believe the things you’ve read
There’s a rumour on the corner
But it’s always been denied
Cause they don’t want you any wiser
You’re just toeing the party line
From the west side to the east side
From the north side to the south
You’ll never get bad information
If you believe in the word of mouth
Look out for those who still want to hang on
Look out for those who live in the past
Get out and listen to the whisper
Because the times are changing fast
From the west side to the east side
From the north side to the south
You’ll never get bad information
If you believe in the word of mouth
You don’t believe the information
You don’t believe it when it’s denied
So when you’re reading explanations
You have to read between the lines
From the west side to the east side
Through the windows I’m looking out
You’ll never get bad information
If you believe in the word of mouth
(Rutherford/Robertson)
There’s a time and a place
For you to make your mark and show your face
There’s a place in time
When you must step outside the line
So understand what I mean
There is a time and place for you to have your dream
But here and now may not be
The time and place for you and me
You and me
It’s the finest line
A missed opportunity or the perfect time
You must not despair
You’ll recognise it when you’re there
So understand what I mean
There is a time and place for you to have your dream
But here and now may not be
The time and place for you and me
The time and place for you and me
There’s a time and there’s a moment you will see
Don’t lower your expectations
There are no limitations
There’s a time and place for you and me
So understand hard as it seems
There is a time and place for you to have your dreams
Though here and now may not be
The time and place for you and me
You and me
(Rutherford/Robertson)
I met a man back in the future
He was high then he was low
You know his one consideration
Should he come or should he go
I met a girl she wants to give me
The gift of living just for today
Ignore the past ignore the future
You’re only going to wish your life away – say
Why can’t today be tomorrow
Why must there be yesterday
Why can’t today be tomorrow
Oh tell me why please tell me why
Are you wishing your life away?
You know that life is no rehearsal
You’re never going to get it right
It’s inconsistent and it’s imperfect
It’s going to give you sleepless nights
And then you find you wake up nervous
For every reason under the sun
Life is full of indecision
It’s the same for everyone – say
Why can’t today be tomorrow
Why must there be yesterday
Why can’t today be tomorrow
Oh tell me why please tell me why
Are you wishing your life away?
Why can’t today be tomorrow
Why must there be yesterday – so tell me
Why can’t today be tomorrow – oh tell me
Why can’t today be tomorrow
Are you wishing you’re life away
Why can’t today be tomorrow?
(Rutherford/Carrack)
Softly you told me what I already knew
No doubt in my mind, no doubt that it was true
The tenderness we had and the love that we used to share
Have long since disappeared if ever really there
Torn by the pleasure and the pain of loving you
I’m so confused I don’t know what to do
Just when I’m saying the need for you is gone
That’s when I realise the feeling’s just as strong
Something in the way you look at me
Something that you just can’t hide
Something in the way you look at me
Oh could never be denied
Nothing I can do to change it
Nothing I can even try
Something in the way you look at me
Darlin’ I don’t know, I don’t know why
Too long it’s been easy to carry on this way
When the words that really hurt are the ones we don’t say
Hard to believe we had a love so strong
And I just can’t accept that it could go so wrong
Try to explain I don’t know if I can
What will it take to make you understand there’s
Something in the way you look at me
Something that you just can’t hide
Something in the way you look at me
Oh could never be denied
Nothing I can do to change it
Nothing I can even try
Something in the way you look at me
Darlin’ I don’t know, I don’t know why
Something in the way you look at me
Something that you just can’t hide
Something in the way you look at me
Oh could never be denied
Nothing I can do to change it
Nothing I can even try
Something in the way you look at me
Darlin’ I don’t know, I don’t know why
Something in the way you look at me
Something I just can’t explain
Something in the way you look at me
And I know I’ve got to try try again
Nothing I can do to change it
Nothing I can even try
Something in the way you look at me
I don’t know why
(Rutherford/Robertson)
A single failure
A little slip
A misdemeanour
A little trip
Does this condemn me
Lock me away?
Before you turn the key
I have one more thing to say
To make amends
Maybe be friends
Everybody gets a second chance
The Circumstance to say I’m sorry
I’d like to tell you in advance
Take my chance and tell you
I’m sorry too
A little stumble
A little fall
Inconsequential
Nothing At All
Now there was someone
I heard him say
That the best laid plans
Sometimes go astray
So don’t be surprised
If I offer you no alibis
Everybody gets a second chance
The Circumstance to say I’m sorry
I’d like to tell you in advance
Take my chance and tell you
I’m sorry too
Everybody gets a second chance
The circumstance to say I’m sorry
I’d like to tell you in advance
I’ll take my chance and tell you I
Take my chance and tell you
I love you
Everybody gets a second chance
The Circumstance to say I’m sorry
I’d like to tell you in advance
Take my chance and tell you
I’m sorry too
Everybody gets a second chance
The Circumstance to say I’m sorry
I’d like to tell you in advance
Take my chance and tell you
I’m sorry too
Everybody wants a
Everybody needs a
Everybody gets a second chance
(Rutherford/Neil)
Open your eyes
Tell me what’s on your mind
Don’t try to hide
Baby what’s wrong
You never lie
But you don’t know what to say
Now I look in your eyes
I can see it’s all gone
Stop Baby
You don’t understand and I said
Stop Baby
You don’t know what you’re doing and I said
Stop Baby
You’re breaking my heart and I said
Stop Baby
Think it over again and I said
Stop
Where will you go
Where will you stay tonight
Is there someone you know
Are you sure you’re alright
I never cry
I never could show the pain
But I won’t survive
Now it’s all gone
Stop Baby
You don’t understand and I said
Stop Baby
You don’t know what you’re doing and I said
Stop Baby
You’re breaking my heart and I said
Stop Baby
Think it over again and I said
Stop
(Rutherford/Carrack/Lee)
Words of warning took me by surprise
From a voice I hardly recognised
Well my heart was beating faster
And my blood ran hot and cold
I was heading for disaster
When suddenly I realised that I had lost control
Loaded questions played upon my mind
Allegations I could not deny
Well my mind was in confusion
Had my back against the wall
I’d been led into collusion
Before I realised I was a victim of it all
Here’s to my crime of passion
I can’t forget the look upon your face
And to your tender mercies
Goodbye to all the innocence we never can replace
All of Sunday sittin’ by the telephone
Not a whisper, well I should have known
But it seems that I’d insisted
‘Cause in spite of all you said
I believe my words were twisted
As line by line the promises were spinning round my head
Here’s to my crime of passion
I can’t forget the look upon your face
And to your tender mercies
Goodbye to all the innocence we never can replace
Waves of anger slowly do recede
To faded memories that I’ll never need
But my mind keeps on returning to the way it used to be
There’s a flame forever burning
There’s nothing I can say to you will ever make you see
Here’s to my crime of passion
I just can’t seem to shake it off my mind
As for your tender mercy
I’ll never stop regretting that I left it all behind
(Rutherford/Robertson)
Supposin’ we said it didn’t happen
Didn’t happen at all
Didn’t happen at all
Empty and gone
There is nothing left within
One penny in a tin
Makes all the noise
You don’t understand
Nothing stays the same
Situations change
And It’s all different now
I’ve made my choice
Let’s just pretend it didn’t happen
Supposin’ we said it didn’t
Come down that way at all
Let’s just pretend it didn’t happen
Did it happen at all
Didn’t happen at all
I thought at the time
When you cut me to the core
It hurt and made me sore
In time it would mend
It hasn’t you see
I forgive but can’t forget
I tried so hard and yet
I’m afraid it’s the end
We can never be friends
Let’s just pretend it didn’t happen
Supposin’ we said it didn’t
Come down that way at all
Let’s just pretend it didn’t happen
Did it happen at all
Didn’t happen at all
Does it matter at all?
No going back
We can’t undo the past
Oh you know it’s built to last
It outlives you and I
I’m trying to say
In this time and in this place
Here and now and face to face
With a tear eye to eye
It’s goodbye
Let’s just pretend it didn’t happen
Supposin’ we said it didn’t
Come down that way at all
Let’s just pretend it didn’t happen
Did it happen at all
Didn’t happen at all
Let’s just pretend it didn’t happen
Supposin’ we said it didn’t
Come down that way at all
Let’s just pretend it didn’t happen
Did it happen at all
Didn’t happen at all
(Rutherford/Carrack)
A freezing cold December brings a chill into my heart
And fills me with an emptiness now we’re so far apart
Lost in my confusion now through everything I see
Oh won’t you come on back I need you here with me
Before
Before
Before the next heartache falls
Before
Before the next heartache falls
Lonely as the darkness casts a spell upon the night
I’m past the point of caring if I’m wrong or I am right
I wonder if you realise oh just what it means to me
Listen to me darlin’ I’m just let you see
Before
Before
Before the next heartache falls
Before
Before the next heartache falls
Early morning finds me at the house upon the hill
Everywhere the laughter reminds me of you still
I’m haunted by the memories all too easy to recall
I would dare to mention there’s a lesson for us all
Before
Before
Before the next heartache falls
Before
Before the next heartache falls
Tears already falling like the rain upon the ground
When the storm is over no trace of it is found
Never will I understand how you vanished like the rain
Tell me that you’ll come back and let me live again
Before
Before
Before the next heartache falls
Before
Before the next heartache falls
